The kennels at Hillcroft were built in 2004 in a shady location on the left border of our Leesburg, Va. property. The design integrates beautifully with the landscape and was built with the comfort and safety of our dogs in mind. The main building is 19' x 19' with indoor/outdoor kennels running off two sides. Each kennel's indoor enclosure measures 6.5' x 7' with a feeding station and sleeping area. Access to the outside runs is through a door on the back wall. The outside runs are a roomy 25' x 6.5' each and are equipped with a gate on the end. The whole of the kennel has a secondary fence surrounding the perimeter with a 7' buffer. If a dog were to wrangle out of their kennel, they would still remain safely protected.
To the back of the kennels, there are two exercise pens roughly sized at 27' x 20' and 50' x 20' where each dog has the opportunity to run and play with friends daily. To the left of the kennel building, is our 2006 addition - a very large play yard close to a half acre in size. This grassy expanse has both shady and sunny spots. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter, a virtual haven for our collies!
