Welcome to Hillcroft Collies! We are a hobby kennel located in the Virginia foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have been breeding and exhibiting AKC registered rough collies for over 10 years and are dedicated to producing dogs that are true to the standard. It is our goal at Hillcroft to breed and raise not only beautiful collies that are competitive in the conformation ring, but those that make wonderful companions and family members, too.
We invite you to poke around our pages to get a glimpse of life at Hillcroft Collies. If you click on Hillcroft News, you can learn about events taken place at Hillcroft or events involving our collies, keep abreast of our dogs' progresses towards their championships, and read announcements of upcoming litters or happy news of the birth of pups. You can follow our adventures through Facebook and our blog! (links below). We also occasionally post videos on YouTube just for fun.
Make sure you sign our guest book, too! Thanks and come back again soon . . .
- Jan Hedrick (and Dave, too!)
As a young girl, I fell in love with the collie breed watching Lassie. In 2007, a dream came true when I met Lassie at the Collie Club of America National! Three collies (my aunt's, a family friend's, and a neighbor's) made an indelible impression on me with their loyalty, calmness, and overall wonderful demeanor. I knew they would always be a part of my life!
We currently have four pointed dogs in the show ring, Gibson, Gemma, Jackson and Ref. Hillcroft is the home of our first champion, CH Kirkhaven Heart of Gold and her daughter, our first homebred champion, CH Hillcroft Heartsong, aka Dixie!
Our kennel is complete with our retirees from the show ring and our seniors, who deserve pampering in their golden years and still bring us joy.
We enjoy working with our dogs and feel they are true ambassdors to the breed. We have trained a few to pull a wagon and they are enlisted to march in parades, visit seniors in retirement homes and become the central part of library and school programs.
